My 30 Days Wild #9

Today, I went to a new reserve the RSPB has recently bought; St Aidan's near Fairburn Ings.
This newly found reserve is MASSIVE and already scored highly by my standards!

The reserve is situated in an old coalery and the machinery has certainly left it's mark!

Right away, you can see how the wild flowers have reclaimed this impressive landscape making it theirs once again.

Carpets upon carpets of meadow for a hunting Kestrel to hover over and a backdrop for a Skylarks song.

It's clear to see how established to reed beds are when a majestic Bittern flies overhead narrowing missed by a mobbing gull.

The reserve doesn't look like much on a map but walking alongside a body of water, proves how diverse this site is. It provides Herons as well as the Common Tern.

On the way back to the visitor centre, I met a confident yet shy little gull chick. He or she didn't seem in the slightest bit bothered about me!

Back at the centre (basically a large hide) I had lunch with my friends...

...and admired the view.

Well worth the visit!
