Earlier today, I went to Tropical World! I have heard so much about it and I was finally able to go!
Since we arrived before lunch, we thought it was best to have it before going in as we had no idea how long we were going to be!
So I had a very full tuna and cucumber sandwich and a lovely cup of tea.
After lunch, we entered the Butterfly House.
As you enter, you are greeted with a cabinet full of butterfly chrysalises.
They are such robust little things but what comes out of them, are so delicate and fragile.
Further along was a stream. It was a very small stream and i'm not entirely sure if it was intended for that but it has turned into a wishing stream...
Now this interested me alot! Tropical World has a crocodile! It was amazing to see.
The species of crocodile they have is the medium sized species. This individual was about 1 and a half meters and they can grow up to 3 meters in length... How long does the largest sized species get up to?!
Leaving the croc behind, we found an iguana just chilling on the floor. How strange!
In a different room were a selection a really brightly coloured birds ranging from purple, to rainbow!
Purple birds! Amazing!
Including this ground dwelling pigeon. What a handsome bird.
Reminds me greatly of a peacock.
Just down the path from the birds was a waterfall, which you could stand behind like you were in a cave.
There was so much to see that it became nearly impossible taking pictures of all the funky birds, mammals, reptiles, fish, amphibians and butterflies! But when I was able to caption a picture, it was of this fluorescent pink bird!
In the next room along, called 'The Desert', were the Meerkats, who mainly were asleep...
There was this curious bird though.
After was a room specially equipped for the nocturnal creatures. To them, it is night time (during the day) so visitors can see them active and not asleep.
In that room, was this adorable feller!
Moving on from the massive fruit bats and entering back into the incredibly humid room, were these strange looking birds...
Tropical world, when it first opened, was a butterfly house. As it developed, it's species list grew, expanding the knowledge onto others. It still has it's butterflies and what magnificent things they are!
