The weekend started with an extremely early start. I left home at 7am, picked up my friend along the way and was at York train station by 7.30. Half and hour early for our train... So anyway, we sat on the train for the departure at 8. I was ready for my ticket inspection.
Once in London, I tackled the underground with my lovely friend and we made it safely to the nhm. It is HUGE! I knew the museum was big but not that BIG!
We found the exhibition whilst meeting my Brighton friends along the way and wow was it amazing in there! I learnt so much about the evolution of mammoths and the other creatures living alongside them!
Here is a GIANT cave bear...
And a MASSIVE mammoth!
Lyuba the baby mammoth was also there. Photography of the little mammoth was banned but there was nowhere saying we couldn't take pictures of the picture of her!
After the delightful mammoth section, we explored the museum further. We saw a hilarious deer...
All the whale skeletons in the mammal section...
And the Darwin Pod thingy. The lift to the top floor went really high!
After a very long day out, it was time to head down to Brighton. I bought my tickets and I had them ready on the train.
Once we arrived at my friends flat, I was exhausted! I certainly slept well that night.
The next day we wandered Brighton, I had a yummy pasty for lunch...
I discovered Brighton Pier and its incredibleness, including the lovely scenes from the very end of the pier.
After the pier, we walked (sort of) down the beach and came across the ruined pier. I bet they both looked spectacular when they were both up and standing.
Back at the flat, we had another earned rest and ate fish and chips, YUM!
The following day, it was time to leave Brighton and my friends and head back to London. Today, we spent 2 hours looking through the dinosaur gallery, it isn't that big but it was so very exciting!
After the incredible dinosaurs, we went up the awesome escalator into the earth and science section. I marvelled at a spot of geology...
And at the escalator...
We came to the best floor of that section but unfortunately, it was near to closing time and we really wanted to buy something from the GIGANTIC gift shop before we left (just means another trip to the nhm at some point!).
I was able however to get a quick picture of the really long dinosaur in the main entrance.
After battling the underground for a fourth time that weekend, we made it to Kings Cross train station where we picked up a quick snack and a cuppa and headed back to York.
I have never felt so at home on a train. London is certainly far too big for a little sea lemon like me and I was more than glad to be with my friend the entire time of the trip. Though when we go again next year (to see the rest of the museum, yes it is that big!) I think it would be better to go before all the schools break up. Now that is a good bit of advise for you there!
Actually, I'm quite peckish, think I will have those mini Jammie Dodgers now!
