30 Days Wild day 30

LAST DAY!

I think now I am 100% wild!

As a result, I allowed my full wild side out and simply enjoyed the wildlife for what it was, weather and all!
Including this fun stepping stone which has NOTHING to do with being wild!

30 Days Wild day 29

As the hot weather progresses, the more the plants need watering! So this evening, I helped watered the whole vegetable garden.

It was hard work!

30 Days Wild day 28

Interesting thing a strimmer. Never used one until today and I don't think I ever want to again!
I refuse to take a picture of it because it's too scary!

30 Days Wild day 27

As the weather was so lovely, I did a spot of painting outside in the sun.
Yes it's paint by numbers but just remember that I'm not even 2 yet!

30 Days Wild day 26

I planted lettuce today... probably not the most wild of things but it needed doing and I was outside for it, lovely!

The blue pellets you can see in the image are organic slug pellets. I like to think they are friendly to the wildlife!

30 Days Wild day 25

After yesterdays pond maintenance session, I finally learnt how the pond started out.
I knew the pond was big but I had no idea it was THAT big!

And deep!

30 Days Wild day 24

I learnt how to look after a pond today, it's quite simple really.
You need to make sure it is always full for any fish and other creatures to swim around in. If it is only half full, frogs, newts and even hedgehogs will struggle to climb the edges.
So here I am positioning the hose pipe at a height to fill up the pond and create bubbles and a flow to oxygenate the water.

30 Days Wild day 23

I went into York today and had a lovely walk down by the River Ouse. York is such a lovely city and parts of the 2 rivers reflect that.

I also met a very eccentric person who has a very unique style of dress. He's my new friend Jed!

And of course, I had my usual cup of tea. McDonalds are doing the coffee bean sticker thing again!

I made a new friend AND had a wild walk!

30 Days Wild day 22

After a walk over the river in Wetherby, I thought it would be fun to learn about different species of duck and how to identify them. It is worth knowing what already exists on your local river, stream or pond and then expand from there.

Just a useful bit of advise my friend gave me!

Wild BBQ and mega glitter tattoos!
There was alot of food to eat and glitter dust everywhere!

Here are all the tattoo's, I like them all!

30 Days Wild day 19

Today was a special day, I saw Swallow fledglings being fed!
They had such stumpy tails!
It was difficult to take a picture as they didn't hang around for long!

30 Days Wild day 18

I had a very relaxed day and simply chilled out in the garden, listening to the birds.
Wonderful!

It sure has been a busy week!

30 Days Wild day 17

Today, my friend showed me 3 individual bee nests. Apparently they are Tree Bumblebee's and 2 of the nest sites used to be House Sparrow nests which is a huge problem as House Sparrows are on the decline.

I've never seen a ginger bee before!

30 Days Wild day 16

I was outside all day today. I haven't done that in awhile!
I did all sorts from fixing a greenhouse to weeding and watering the vegetable garden.
The fresh air certainly did me good!

Monday, 15 June 2015

30 Days Wild day 15

I'm halfway through! I must be wild by now!
I checked up on my seedlings and my friends mum vegetable garden, there is alot growing there!

And look! another little seedling!

30 Days Wild day 14

After all that excitement of climbing a tree yesterday, I took today easy and watched the birds at the feeder. I never realised how many fledglings there were in the garden!

I couldn't get a picture with a bird at the feeder, they're fast little things!

Saturday, 13 June 2015

30 Days Wild day 13

I climbed a tree today, properly for the first time!

I saw some great views too! Everything looked so small...

Friday, 12 June 2015

30 Days Wild day 12

I admired a very tall tree today, it was oddly lovely to look at this tree and follow the curvature of it's branches.

Such lovely living things and not everyone seems to appreciate them.
Well I do!

30 Days Wild day 11

Today I watched Springwatch Extra, Springwatch, followed by Unsprung and now I'm watching the live camera's.

Go Spineless Si, go!

Keep fanning!

30 Days Wild day 10

Today, day 10 of all things wild in my life, I enjoyed the pond life and watching the fish do their fishy business. So peaceful and relaxing, wonderful!

Tuesday, 9 June 2015

30 Days Wild day 9

Today, I heard the delight of the dawn chorus. I heard it on Easter morning of course when I was up very early at 5am. This morning I was awake just before 3.30am. Very very very early!!

It's fantastic hearing just one birds voice turn into a mass of in tune chords from hundreds of others wanting to sing just as passionately. With every new note comes an individual song which in turn, makes the dawn chorus, an ever increasingly more powerful body of sound.

Brilliant!

30 Days Wild day 8

Today, I did the simple thing of relaxing in my friends garden.
It was lovely hearing all the birds singing and the slight hum of insects.
I even found this lovely funny little sign...

Sunday, 7 June 2015

30 Days Wild day 7

I did a spot of gardening today. I know, how did I do it, right?

I planted up 3 Gardeners Delight outdoor cherry tomato plants as a present for Teddy and Teddy in Preston. I hope they like tomatoes!

Saturday, 6 June 2015

30 Days Wild day 6

Today I relaxed and watched the clouds. It was lovely. I was seeing what shapes I could pick out from the clouds and the patches of blue sky between.

Friday, 5 June 2015

30 Days Wild day 5

For day 5, I admired my friends mum's flowers. She plans to use these plants to make a mini wild flower meadow. In the long run, the wildlife surrounding the garden will benefit greatly from it! AND my friend said I could help build a mini beasts hotel, how exciting!

Thursday, 4 June 2015

30 Days Wild day 4

Today, I enjoyed the outside again by saying hello to my little seedlings.

They're Strawberry Sweetcorn, so I'll let you guess what the common name really is!

Wednesday, 3 June 2015

30 Days Wild day 3

Today for day 3, I fed the birds.
I gave them soaked meal worms...

Bird seed...

and fresh water...

I hope the birds are happy with it!

Tuesday, 2 June 2015

30 Days Wild day 2

For day 2, I admired and questioned my friends natural collection she has. It was fantastic seeing everything! I never realised how colourful British birds were until I saw her small collection of feathers!

And the mountain of pine cones!

30 Days Wild day 1

I heard about the 30 Days wild from a programme called Springwatch, so I thought I would try it.
The idea is to do 1 thing a day which connects you to wildlife. It could be anything, even something simple such as a walk surrounded by nature, which is what I did!

I even found a flower the same colour as me!

Please don't ask how I walk, I, I really can not explain!
